Comment: Nobody seemed to get this song. It’s more of a background song rather than in-you-face song. The listener was meant to dream about what they could do if they had some money…If I had some money I’d buy a new bike (push-bike – I’m too dangerous on a motor-bike), a new knee so that I could run again, and get my eyes lasered so I could get an apple watch. I’d spend more time with charity, my family and learning new things – the list is endless for me. It’s my own fault – I somehow missed the mark 🤔
Blurb:
Here’s a cut-down version of the blurb for this song - it’s a bit long - sorry.
In my attempt to learn guitar I read a guitar magazine that taught me about
“hammer-on’s” and “pull-off’s”, so I got a “D” chord and the riff fell out of
the guitar. Then I thought - “what can I sing about?” - I know - I’ll write a
song about money. We tried the song in the band (Dry Til Friday) which the
audience liked - people used to say “that one will be a hit” (including my wife),
but I thought it didn’t really fit in the set as it was too slow and folky,
so it was dropped. The nice comments got stuck in my head, so I went about
recording it - this took about 20 years! - most recording studios didn’t get
back to me and the ones that were cost a fortune, so I set about recording it
myself but that was another huge rabbit-hole. For someone who has been into music
all his life and working in IT for the rest of it you’d think it would come easy
but no - wall after wall had to be got over, around, through and underneath.
I tried so many different versions with drums, bass, distorted guitars and backing
vocals but eventually ended up with just 1 guitar and 1 vocal - it’s what the song
wanted - my wife was right all along!. I borrowed a Gibson guitar from my friend
Pete, and a guitar student Raph helped me mix it. If this song ever makes it then
I’ve already got the stadium version in my back pocket - ready to rock...
